Bio

Tonia Moreno’s fascination with glass started in 2006 at Palomar College in CA where she received her Associate’s Degrees in Glass and Liberal Arts. She chose to enroll in the glass program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she recently received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a focus in Glass. Tonia’s explorations in glass are fueled by complex organic forms, shapes and textures found in nature. Her most recent work has been inspired by the use of multiples and using other sculptural materials in collaboration with glass.

Tonia was the recipient of the 2013 University of Hawaii Pilchuck Partnership Scholarship and attended Tom Rowney’s cane working course at Pilchuck Glass School. Currently she is the Teaching Assistant at the University of Hawaii at Manoa for the Beginning Glass Course, and also the Teaching Assistant for the Glass Fusion course at the Honolulu Museum of Art School. She is a volunteer assisting in the construction of the new Glass Studio at Windward Community College. Tonia has work featured on the Glass Art Society website, and in “Lifeforms, The Rudolph and Leopold Blaschka Glass Biological Model Exhibition”. She has also exhibited at The Fine Art Associates, Raku Ho’olaule’a, and Shift, the University of Hawaii Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition.
